FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do you offer the courses?
We offer Course 1 in three flexible ways: in-person classes at our Roseville location, live online webinars with a real instructor scheduled in advance, or our new Video On-Demand option that lets you start anytime and move at your own pace.
After completing Course 1, you’ll take Courses 2 and 3 with us either in-person or via live webinar. If you need a fully virtual path for all three courses and can’t attend our scheduled live sessions, we can connect you with our partner who provides on-demand options for Courses 2 and 3.
How much time do I spend with an instructor, and how much should I plan to study?
Course 1 is offered as a 30-hour program in three formats. For in-person or live online classes, you’ll have direct instruction with a live instructor, and we generally recommend about 1.5 hours of homework each night. If you miss any class time, you’ll need to make up the unit in another session, and we’ll help you plug into the next available class.
For Course 1 Video On-Demand, there is no scheduled instructor time. You complete the full 30 hours at your own pace by watching recordings of a live instructor. If questions come up, a licensed instructor is available via email and typically responds within one business day. This format allows you to fit your studies around work, family, or other commitments.
What if I have questions about the material, during or after the course?
For live classes (in-person or webinar), you’ll have direct interaction with your instructor and can ask questions throughout the course. Instructors are also available by email between sessions or after your course ends, usually responding within one business day.
For Course 1Video On-Demand, you’ll have email support from licensed instructors who are available to answer your questions and guide you if you need clarification while moving through the material.
What resources do you provide, besides the textbook?
For Course 1, you receive flashcards with key terms and definitions. Video On-Demand students get the same resources digitally, allowing unlimited review while working at their own pace. In Courses 2 & 3, you’ll receive forms, so you can learn how to write up offers, price houses, list properties, and other elements in the practice of real estate pricing. You’ll get MLS access, purchase contracts, and everything you need to be ready to hit the ground running when you complete Course 3.
Do I have to pass quizzes or tests in order to complete the course?
We conduct an assessment and an evaluation at the end of each course to ensure we’re teaching effectively and to understand how we performed as your instructors.
For Course 1 Video On-Demand, you’ll need to complete a proctored assessment to verify your identity and meet state requirements. You can do this in one of three ways:
-
At our Roseville headquarters – you’ll come in to complete your assessment, show your ID, and fill out an evaluation. This allows us to report to the state that you personally completed the course.
-
Through your local library – if you live far from Roseville, you have the option to use an approved proctor at your local library. We can email the test directly to them, and they’ll oversee you taking the examination in person.
-
Through virtual proctoring – if you can’t travel to a physical location, you can take your assessment online. In this option, a licensed proctor verifies your identity remotely and uses a secure access code to unlock your exam within our system. This process ensures your identity is confirmed and meets Minnesota’s official proctoring requirements.
Are there practice exams?
Yes. Practice questions are provided at the end of each chapter in Course 1, plus a final practice exam. On-Demand students can review all practice exams multiple times at their convenience.
Do you offer tutoring?
We offer a half-day Exam Prep session for Course 1 (our ‘Exam Prep Course’), covering tricky topics and providing flashcards to help you identify strengths and weaknesses. Video On-Demand students also have access to these prep materials.
What textbook do you use?
Course 1 uses a textbook written by our founder, Mike Brennan, ensuring up-to-date material specific to Minnesota real estate. This applies to all learning formats, including Course 1 Video On-Demand.
Are there any other books or courses that you recommend that would help me pass the exam?
No. In fact, we discourage using outside resources because many are written for other states, and the content can differ from what’s required in Minnesota. Our material is specifically designed for the Minnesota real estate exam and is comprehensive enough on its own. Whether you’re in a classroom, live online, or taking Course 1 Video On-Demand, you’ll have everything you need to prepare confidently.
What do I receive after finishing the course?
Upon completion of any course, be it continuing education or licensing classes, you receive a certificate, stating that you’ve completed your hours of education.
